Overview

Intelligent counting at the edge

Traffic Counter is an ACAP application that runs directly on Axis cameras, leveraging Axis Object Analytics to perform real‑time multi‑class detection and counting — people, cars, bicycles, and trucks — without any external server or cloud dependency.

Counted data is aggregated into configurable groups and pushed automatically to customer platforms via Axis Generic Data Push, or via native compatibility with Webreport and DataManager protocols, fully protecting existing customer investments and historical datasets.

The intuitive on‑camera UI provides live counts, historical statistics, scenario editing, and multi‑language support across eight languages.

How it works

From camera to insight

Traffic Counter runs entirely on the Axis camera. Here's how it turns video streams into actionable data.

Configure scenarios

Create virtual lines in Object Analytics directly from the Scenarios tab. Define IN/OUT directions and object classes (human, vehicle).

Define groups

Group checkpoints (doors, corridors) and assign IN/OUT scenarios. Set sending intervals, server URLs, and optional authentication.

Automatic data push

Data is sent ~60 seconds after each 15‑minute block closes. All cameras stay in sync. Test button verifies server connectivity.

View & analyse

Access live counters, historical statistics (daily/hourly), and event notifications. Full multi‑language support built in.
