ICA, the leading Scandinavian retail chain, chooses TrueView People Counter™ from Cognimatics for measuring visitor flow in shops. The product is a fully automatic and extremely easy to use. Using cameras equipped with Cognimatics' ground breaking and patent pending technology for image understanding, it offers cost efficient access to exact data about the traffic in shops. To have precise knowledge about how people move around in a shop is crucial when designing a new layout for optimizing the shop's performance.
TrueView People Counter™ for measuring visitor flow is a highly scalable and modular system. It is easy to install, expand and use. The system contains the powerful reporting package, TrueView Report™ for analyzing visitor traffic in the shop. The system is built on having autonomous counter units spread across the shop, each unit consisting of two cameras and a processing unit loaded with Cognimatics' software. The image processing is done on each unit separately and the result is downloaded from the system via WiFi making it very easy to use. Being modular and scalable, it is also easy to reconfigure the system by adding or subtracting counter units and placing the units in new positions to measure flow in other areas of the shop. The cameras are mounted near the ceiling facing straight down for best performance.
-We are very happy to have ICA as a customer and partner and we expect a lot from our cooperation, says Rikard Berthilsson CEO of Cognimatics AB. The system is a so called "no image imaging system" meaning that it uses the camera only as a sensor and that no images leave the system or are stored in the system. The design prevents the system from violating your integrity, which can otherwise be the case when installing surveillance cameras in public areas, he continues.
