Cognimatics, the leader in Cognitive Vision, today anounces that the City of Lund in Sweden choses TrueView Parking Manager™ for managing a car park in the city. The car park is on the major square in Lund called Mårtenstorget. The system has as of today been up and running since the summer of 2005 and has proven to perform excellent, also in demanding weather conditions.
The system consists of four IP cameras mounted on the roofs of surrouding buildings. Data traffic from cameras to server is done over WiFi. The system continuously detects which parking lots that are taken and which are not. The system uses standard IP cameras and existing light, meaning sunlight during the day and street lights at night.
-This is a very demanding environment for an automatic and image based car counting system since it is done outdoors, with standard cameras, with no special lightings and with the whole spectra of weather conditions ranging from very bright summer sunlight to snow blizzards in the winter, says Håkan Ardö, CTO of Cognimatics.
